Giverny Private Tour with a local

Giverny Private  Trip

Book a private tour to Giverny and follow the path of Chaude Monet on the Impressionism road.

Giverny is located in the Seine Valley. Here the light is very soft and very luminous and Monet was very aware of that. He came to Normandy because this part of France does have this very beautiful translucent light. It was one of the main reasons that money acquired this property and made his garden here.

We offer you the possibility of hiring private limo with English (Spanish, Italian or Portuguese) speaking driver, then you can visit at your own pace. You can ask us for our pdf guide for a self guided tour.

If you have your own car, you can also ask for a licensed tour guide for a private walking tour.

Discover Giverny with a Local

The historic capital of Normandy was the scene of the martyrdom of Joan of Arc, convicted and then burnt at the stake in 1431 on the Old Market Place. Rouen is also known as the “Town with a Hundred Spires” thanks to jewels of religious architecture.

Visit Monet’s Garden

In his first garden at Giverny, Monet opened up the view to the horizon and felled the trees that might cast too much shade. he retained only a pair of yews flanking the start of thesandy walk.

The rest was laid out on ageometrical plan, with a small, simplified version designed by himself of a former garden “a la française”, structured by right-angled beds.

The flower beds edged with irises, one of his favourite flowers.

Monet’s House

To walk into Monet’s house is to enter a small independant realm dedicated to art and nature. It is a memorial where visitors come as pilgrims to worship at a holy shrine.

In the interiors, visitors can encounter Monet in his daily life, in his kitchen, bedroom or dining room.

That entertaining host and axcellent guest, as warm and welcoming as he was sometimes sombre and troubled, was first and foremost the great artist who, with his fellows Impressionists, brought about a revolution in late 19th century art.
